Response to Recent Media Attention (November 2024)
At United World College Maastricht, we are committed to providing a safe environment for all our students and staff every day.
In 2022, UWC Maastricht received reports suggesting that inappropriate behavior may have occurred at a former position abroad by a staff member several years ago. This information was not known to UWC Maastricht at the time this person was hired.
We find it important to state that at UWC Maastricht, we reject all forms of inappropriate behavior. We work every day to maintain a safe environment for our students, teachers and other staff and we take signals, reports, or complaints that come to us very seriously. In this instance, we asked the Dutch police to investigate this case. The school fully cooperated with this investigation. It did not lead to any criminal charges. Employment was terminated in 2023.
We act with the utmost care and out of respect for the privacy of those involved, we will not share any further details on this case.
