Kopila Valley Talent Scholarship

Kopila Valley is a Nepalese orphanage founded by Maggie Doyne. In The Netherlands, everyone got to know Maggie and her children through the television programme by famous Dutch TV presenter Floortje Dessing. The programme generated great exposure and thanks to the generosity of many, Maggie has been able to establish a proper school and adopt even more (51 kids in total) since.

In that same show, we met Nisha. She spoke about how it was her dream to become an oncologist, since both of her parents died because of cancer. Nisha got offered a scholarship at UWC Maastricht and graduated in 2018. This opportunity of a lifetime led to her studying Medicine in the US.

After years Floortje went back to the orphanage and saw with her own eyes how the UWC-experience had been a kickstarter for Nisha’s education and how it affected the whole community there. Together with the Advancement Team, she is determined to let other talented and ambitious kids from Kopila Valley follow in her footsteps in the years to come with the help of the Kopila Valley Scholarship.
