Celebrating a birthday ánd raising money for scholarships

A double dose of joy and generosity! Aziza celebrated her birthday ánd raised €8490 for UWC Maastricht’s Female Empowerment Project.

Instead of traditional gifts, Aziza encouraged her guests to contribute to a cause close to her heart—the UWC Maastricht Female Empowerment Project. This aims to empower girls from the Middle East and North Africa, via education at UWC Maastricht. Through scholarships, they live and learn in a stimulating, safe and open environment allowing them to develop into agents of positive change that the world so desperately needs.

Aziza, with North African roots herself, learned about this project through her daughter who is currently studying at our school. Thanks to her mum, she will share the classroom with girls from the Middle East and North Africa! Aziza (on the right in the picture) came to UWC Maastricht to hand over a check to Charlotte Groven, who works for the school as fundraiser.
