Part time cover as a classroom teacher
Vacancy for teachers with DUO accredited qualifications for our Primary School. With a staff member going on maternity leave in April 2025, we are looking for cover for their maternity and most likely parental leave, starting in March 2025.
0.5 cover as an IB PYP Classroom teacher in our Kindergarten. Workdays are on Wednesday, Thursday and a half day on Friday.
The new colleagues will participate fully as a team member in our Primary School with 300 students, and within the whole school. At UWC Maastricht every teacher is considered to be part of the pastoral care structure. Therefore, teachers support students not only in their academic learning but also in their development as a person.
The role of an IB Primary Years Teacher) is to build and maintain a successful Early Years Primary Years Programme (PYP) within the school by providing an educational atmosphere conductive to learning and developing through the process of inquiry.

Education degree and professional experience
- Completed Bachelor in Primary Education is required.
- (International) Teaching Qualification / Certificate, like a Bachelor or Master in Education or QTS with induction, that qualifies for accreditation according to the Dutch educational system. Your qualifications allow you to work with the age group 4-11.

Terms of Employment
You will get a part time temporary cover contract of employment under Dutch law: the initial contract is until August 1, 2025. After a positive appraisal your contract can be extended for the cover of parental leave on a part time basis.
To be able to work in the Netherlands, a (foreign) staff member must be able to successfully apply for:
✔ Residence and work permits for the Netherlands.
✔ A Dutch VOG (certificate of good conduct).
UWCM will assist in the application process for residence and work permits and VOG.
